Filipinos are gradually entering and making a mark in the world of competitive Powerlifting – and this was represented by Joyce Gail Reboton – when she made history in the 2021 World Classic Powerlifting Championship in Halmstad, Sweden. Reboton was the first Filipino to grab the silver medal in bench press (105kg) and bronze medal in total lifts (187.5kg in squats + 205 kg in deadlift = 497.5kg in total). While Filipinas excelling in global championships is no longer a rarity, in the realm of strength sports competitions, funding, and support remains sparse.

Instead of being disheartened by the ugly reality of the financial deficiencies, Reboton extended herself out of her comfort zone to gather funds by signing up for crowd-funding projects and launching her own brand-KILOS.

KILOS carries originally designed t-shirts and tote bags which hopefully would enable her to save funds and fly her to competitions to represent the Philippines.

Admittedly, Powerlifting isn’t a popular sport yet in the Philippines. But, Reboton is committed to lift and elevate Powerlifting in the Philippines, not only during competitions but as part of training or routine, as Powerlifting is the very foundation of all movements and sports.

This classic tote bag is made from durable soft denim with a red leather pocket. On the red pocket, a text that reads “kilos” is written in ancient Filipino text called Baybayin, which also embodies the Filipino Spirit. All proceeds from this purchase will go to Joyce Gail Reboton’s funding to cover expenses needed to participate in future competitions as the Philippine’s representative.
